The End of Days -- Jenny Erpenbeck

This divided us. Two or three really liked it.,  some couldn't get on with it.
A  poetic book that is  "literary" novel

Capital -- John Lanchester

Rather stock predictable characters but an engaging easy read, No great insights by the end of it

The Crying of Lot 49 -- Thomas Pynchon

Some wonderful ideas   , playing with the reader . One of us could not finish it,the rest admired it although the middle section drags a bit

Honour -- Elif Shafik

We thought this an interesting book, readable and well worth persisting with.
London and rural Turkey woven together.

Death and the Penguin -- Andrei Kurkov

A short , darkly amusing read. We all liked it  - but not much to discuss. Magnus Mills with a political agenda. Worth a look.

Cloud Atlas -- David Mitchell

Very clever  , but is there a message . Apparently yes but most of us missed it.
Good but not great

Strange Weather in Tokyo -- Hiromi Kawakami

We liked it - well most of us. A delicate, engaging love story  with unusual main characters
