A readable but odd book . Farce and cruelty  set in WW2 - read like a film  but not one I would see.

The Hand that First Held Mine -- Maggie O'Farrell

A divided group -most thought it OK if flawed, some very engaged and one hated it.

The End of Days -- Jenny Erpenbeck

This divided us. Two or three really liked it.,  some couldn't get on with it.
A  poetic book that is  "literary" novel

Capital -- John Lanchester

Rather stock predictable characters but an engaging easy read, No great insights by the end of it

The Crying of Lot 49 -- Thomas Pynchon

Some wonderful ideas   , playing with the reader . One of us could not finish it,the rest admired it although the middle section drags a bit

Honour -- Elif Shafik

We thought this an interesting book, readable and well worth persisting with.
